Mike Saville for Aurora!

Ward Six—Alderman Michael B. Saville

m-saville-bioMichael Saville was born at the old Copley Hospital and raised in Aurora, living on the west side and attended McCleery Elementary School, Jefferson Middle School, graduated from West Aurora High School and earned his BA degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois, Chicago. Alderman Saville is employed at Real Manage – Aurora and was in banking for 16 years prior to that.

Mike is the son of Barrett Saville (Mooseheart Graduate, North Central College Graduate, World War II Veteran, Dairy Salesman) and Vivian Rigoni Saville (Joliet High School, North Central College Graduate, teacher, real estate broker).  Mike’s grandparents lived on the 300 block of South Lincoln Avenue for 45 years.  Mike is a 3rd generation of Aurora and 5th generation of Illinois.

Mike has union experience – being a past member of the Retailers Union and  being a past member of the Roofers Union.

Mike Saville was just re-elected as Alderman of the 6th Ward again in 2019.

Service and Community Involvement

Alderman Saville officially became active in the community in 1980 when he was appointed by Alderman Jack Hill to the Aurora Planning Commission and served until 1985. Alderman Saville was appointed  Alderman by Mayor David Pierce to the Aurora City Council in 1985. In 1987, 1991, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2015, and 2019 he successfully ran for re-election as Alderman of the Sixth Ward. He was a member of the DuKane Valley Executive Committee from 1986 to 1990 and served for one term as its Vice-Chairman. Alderman Saville is also a past member of the Aurora Downtown Redevelopment Corporation (Aurora Downtown). Mike is currently the City Council Liaison to the Paramount Arts Center.  Alderman Saville is the originator of the Riverwalk Commission as well as its Chairman since its inception in 1988.

Alderman Saville has served on the Government Operations Committee in 1985, the Finance Committee from 1985 to 2003 and the Planning and Development Committee from 1985 to 2019. He had been the Chairman of the Planning and Development Committee since 2003 and was the alternate to the Building, Grounds and Infrastructure (BGI) Committee from November 2013 to May 2015.  Mike has also served has Alderman Pro Tem of the City Council.  He currently chairs the Building, Zoning, & Economic Development Committee and serves on the Public, Health & Safety Committee.
